Amazon FireTV Game Controller
This is the second generation game controller for Amazon. I was the ID Lead from start to finish. Design and development occurred at the same time as the second generation FireTV box and remote.
The 1st generation FireTV Game Controller was designed by an outside consultancy based on our partner's game control platform. I managed the design work with the consultancy and saw it through development working with internal and external engineering along with the ODM of our platform partner.
For the 2nd generation, we did all of the design and engineering. The goal of the second generation was to address user feedback, improve comfort, and heighten game play on Amazon FireTV.

Everything was redesigned. The grips were lengthened slightly for more stability in hand, the top received generous curvature for comfort, the sticks and d-pad were elevated above the top surface for better access and more articulation, the battery compartment was integrated into the form, and the entire device was reduced in size to accommodate even the youngest players.
IMPROVED SHOULDER BUTTONS
In watching people play games, we noticed that people hit the shoulder buttons from the finger tips to the inside of the middle knuckle. To improve the experience, we made the shoulder buttons wrap around to the side and ensured there was button action at all angles.
The player indicator LEDs are only visible when making player selection. This helps to place the focus on game play, optimizes battery performance, and aligns with the LED behavior of FireTV.
